PAST PROJECTS

Whether it's finding a supplier for your latest NPD, getting to the bottom of a food-safety problem, helping you make the right sustainable-packaging decisions or getting retailer-ready for your first listing, we can help.

NEW SUPPLIER APPROVAL - HEALTHY SOFT DRINKS

Having experienced rapid growth our client were looking to consolidate their co-packing operations. Their preferred partner already held BRC certification but for the purposes of their own due diligence they commissioned us to carry out a new supplier inspection and produce a technical visit report with recommended improvements. It wasn’t easy and I got some push-back from the co-packer but once they realised my recommendations were built on solid experience and intended to help them improve their own Food Safety standards, we swiftly saw eye to eye and they were fully approved.

ALLERGEN RISK ASSESSMENT - CAKE BAKERY

In preparation for the launch of a new gluten-free brownie our client wanted an expert's opinion on the allergen controls in place at their cake supplier. We started by reviewing the site floor plan, HACCP plan, allergen risk assessment and other key documents then followed up with an on-site Technical Visit. Doing so brought all the theory to life, we were able to get under the skin of the operation and see it all in practice. Fortunately their controls were adequate and we were able to confidently agree to start production. Verification of your supplier's standards by a competent and impartial 3rd party is an fundamental aspect of your due diligence defence.

PREPARING FOR AN AUDIT - BREWERY

A craft kombucha brewery didn't know much about their legal obligations as a food manufacturer and struggled to make head or tail of it – having recently moved site and wanting to regain their SALSA certification they approached me to do a gap analysis against the standard and help them prepare for the audit, writing documents and training important concepts to their small team.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING ADVICE - VEGAN FOOD BRAND

This client had recently launched a new range of products using trial packaging which meant their packaging was much heavier and more costly than it needed to be and was now experiencing significant increase in sales. We agreed a 4-day project to review all possible packaging materials suited to the product and manufacturing process, weigh up the environmental impact and recyclability of each one, complete a competitive category review, engage new suppliers, get quotes and deliver a sustainable packaging training session to all stakeholders.
